at the ticky tacky tiki

backwards baseball cap man
walks through the door
of the ticky tacky tiki bar

hands a ten spot
to the bouncer.

dozens of robotic human legs
dangle from the ceiling
going through the motions

of kicking field goals
or dancing the can can,
moonwalking like jacko.

general dung's daughter kim
is doing duty behind the bar.
the kids from bakersfield

are setting up
on the palm thatched stage.
brandon's got a mohawk

on his mouseketeer hat ears,
alison is vibing a goth
annette funicello.

the disembodied heads
of ronald reagan and
nikita kruschev

french kiss and wink
from the shelf of bottles
behind the bar.

ronnie starts to sing:
zip-a-dee-doo-dah
zip-a-dee-ay

niki joins in:
my oh my
what a wonderful day.....

brandon bangs out a chord
that barely meshes
with the song

alison grabs a six foot goofy bot
and they do a texas two step
on the stage.

two patrons dressed up
as captain hook and cruella deville
raise their glasses:

plenty of sun-shine
heading my way

zip-a-dee-doo-dah
zip-a-dee-ay.

backwards baseball cap man
slides onto a stool at the bar
beside a red head with

a daisy duck bow in her hair.
kim the bartender,
dolled up like a tinkerbelle

from saigon, says:
what can i getcha, stranger?
donald daquiris

are the tuesday special.
sure, i'll try one of those
says b.b.c. man.

he watches open mouthed
as kim whips the potion
into the shaker, finishing

with a touch of her magic wand.
-what is this place?he says
reaching for his drink.

the elephant head
mounted on the wall
above the bar

flaps his ears, and waves
a conductor's baton with his trunk
as seven dwarves begin to sing

it's a small world after all......
the redhead with the daisy duck
ribbon in her hair

nudges him with her elbow.
don't you know? the ticky tacky tiki
belongs to tinkerbelle here,

but it's a place for animatronic
builders, aka the 'cast', from
the kingdom down the street.

they build prosthetic arms
and legs for the victims
of bombs and mines

in tink's native land.
all the rest of this stuff
is just for fun.

brandon hits a heavy version
of the opening bars
of the mickey mouse club march,

alison shakes two pompoms
made from scraps
of fiber optic cables.

cruella deville
twerks with captain hook,
they all begin to sing:

who's the leader of the club
that's made for you and me,
m-i-c, k-e-y; m-o-u-s-e
